A little while ago I ran a poll to see what kinds of journals our members would like to see, and the overwhelmingly most popular idea was features on members galleries.
So here is the first in an occasional series, featuring the lovely =TylersAngel
Keep taking those fabulous images!
kind regards Morgana

1. How/Why did you first take up photography?
When I was about 15 or 16 I had a friend who wanted to be a professional photographer. She began an apprenticeship and I often helped with her photos. That was my "first contact" to photography.
From that time forward I was interested in photography, but didn't take pictures myself until the birth of my son. I bought a compact camera to capture nearly every move he made
Some people meant my pics are really cool and I should do something with photography. And so I did. All I know of photography I know from people here on DA (especially who gave me some small, but very helpful hints) and some friends, who are photographers for years or "feed" me with material to study (big thanks to , and )
2. What draws you to portraits?
Faces..... Everybody has a story that is written in his/her face. With the camera I want to explore and unveil these stories, might they be shown in the eyes or in wrinkles or somewhere else.
And I want to tell stories and show emotions with my pictures.......all that is written in your FACE
3. What kind of camera do you use?
I'm using a Canon EOS 400D SLR with a Canon EF-S 18-55mm lens and a Canon EF 55-200mm lens (the two kit lenses)
4. If you could photograph anyone who would it be?
Hm...... alive or dead?
If it could be a dead person, I would love to take pictures from Pablo Picasso. Look at his face, there are thousands of stories in it
And living persons.................. no doubt: Dave Gahan (singer from Depeche Mode), Trent Reznor (mastermind and singer from Nine Inch Nails) and............ Brad Pitt (don't know any other thing to say than: sexiest man alive 1995 and 2000...for me sexiest man EVER EVER EVER )
5. What do you know now about photography that you wished you'd known when you first started out?
It's all in the light.... light is alpha and omega. And photographing people is hard work. I would have liked to know that I sometimes have to be a contortionist to get the right angle for the pic to turn out as I want it to

Portrait photography, be it BW or colour - send us your best and favourite images!
For the purposes of the club, portraits are defined as photographs of one or more people. They can be in a studio, at work or on location. But the most important aspect of the image, the focus [if you'll excuse the pun] should be the subject.
Images that have been retouched are fine; however photographs manipulations will be declined as there are many other wonderful clubs more suited for this art genre.
Images that do not fit this criteria will be kindly declined.
No nudity, implied nudity, gore or violence please.
